Judoka Mihai Latishev returned home
The judoka Mihai Latişev, who recently became the world youth champion, returned home. The 18-year-old athlete was congratulated by his colleagues and prominent members of the federation, reports Moldova 1.
Mihail Latişev had a pleasant surprise from his colleagues in the gym, friends, family and members of the professional federation. Everyone came to congratulate the young judoka who brought the Republic of Moldova the first gold medal in the youth category.
"It was very emotional. I managed to write history for the Republic of Moldova. I'm glad about that. The support of my family and friends inspires and motivates me a lot," said Mihail Latishev.
"At this championship, I was sure that Mihail would get at least a bronze medal. I was confident that Mihail would win, because he defeated all these athletes at the European Cups before," said judoka's coach, Valeriu Duminică.
At the Youth World Cup, which took place in Ecuador, Mihail Latishev competed in the weight category of up to 81 kilograms. The Moldovan obtained four victories on the way to the final, and in the decisive fight he prevailed against the Frenchman Arnaud Aregba by the "ippon" method.
