"Cherchez la femme", the new book of short stories launched by Lucreţia Bârlădeanu

She creates her work in two geographical areas, in Chisinau and Paris, in different realities, but approaching the same topics. We are talking about the writer Lucreţia Bârlădeanu, who launched the new short story book suggestively entitled “Cherchez la femme”, informs Moldova 1.

After winning the prose section for the novel "The Eastern Mystery" at the recent Awards of the Writers' Union of Moldova, Lucreţia Bârlădeanu came before readers with a new editorial appearance.

In this book I have a chapter dedicated to women, in the sense that I meditate "Cherchez la femme", so I have some stories, some short stories with concrete names Maria, Silvia, Păpuşa, Cesili, where the woman is ubiquitous, but the woman is present everywhere in life," said Lucreţia Bârlădeanu.

Through this book, Lucreţia Bârlădeanu returned to short prose, a genre in which she made her debut years ago in literature

"It is a book that surprised me, first of all through its well-thought-out structure, four cycles as four cardinal points in which all the life stories of a woman but also of a man fit. The focus, however, is on a female character. They are the loves, they are our Bessarabian history, they are our departures to the big world, they are our inner exiles, they are the human searches of a woman,” says the literary critic, Maria Pilchin.

Beyond the fact that it is a praise of the woman, "Cherchez la femme" is also about her relationship with divinity, society, inspiration.

"One of my obsessions in this book is the relationship of the creative man with inspiration, how you can gather it, how you can evoke it, how you can master it, how you can make it closer to you. So, those who will read the book will see if we have found an answer to this question or not," says the writer Lucreţia Bârlădeanu.

In her books, Lucreaţia Bârlădeanu always asks questions, urging readers to meditate and look for answers. After the launch, the writer went to Paris, where she is working on a new book, about the destinies of people at home and far away.
