Diesel crisis on the oil market in the Republic of Moldova, ANRE explanations

Chaos on the fuel market in the Republic of Moldova. While many Peco stations no longer have diesel in stock, unprecedented increases in oil prices are taking place. The Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) explains that this crisis is mainly caused by the war in Ukraine, which disrupted traditional logistics chains and partially excluded oil products from the Russian Federation from Western markets, according to Moldova 1.

The drivers I spoke to are concerned and hope that the authorities will put an end to this situation.

VOX: "I saw the station at Mihai Viteazu that was zero for all types of fuel and I found that one because I thought the crisis was getting worse. It is clear that it is problematic and affects us." "Prices are high, there is no diesel yet. It affects them a lot, because there are necessities that we have to do with the car, that is, even if it is expensive, we save elsewhere so that we can get food. I mean, we're pretty much on the edge." "It will become a problem for drivers, if it starts to disappear, we are based on imports. The policy of big countries that negatively influences us, I think," people say.

ANRE explains, through a press release, that this crisis on the fuel market is due to the fact that the traditional logistics chains have been disrupted, but also to the blockade in the last days on the border of the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the authorities will make efforts to streamline the transport traffic at the customs crossing points, and priority will be given to the goods destined for the Republic of Moldova.
