Decrease in Moldovan exports of wines, spirits and distillates
The wine sector has also been affected by the pandemic. In 2020, due to the drought, the grape harvest decreased by about 39 percent, reaching the lowest value since 2010 and so far. The data were presented by Cristina Frolov, director of the National Office of Vine and Wine, during the National Conference "Wine Year 2020. Priorities in the development of the sector", reports Moldova 1.
According to Frolov, this influenced the entire branch, registering a 42.2 percent decrease in wine production.
At the same time, exports of wines, spirits and distillates registered a smaller decrease: by about 12 percent.
The main market for wine bottled in the Republic of Moldova is Romania, exports growing in 2020 by 20.2 percent. Russia remains in second place, followed by Poland, the Czech Republic and Belarus.
