Japan could reduce the import tax for Moldovan wines. Gavriliţa to Gaibu: "We start with this topic, maybe we can succeed with other trade positions"
Japan could reduce the import tax for Moldovan agricultural products, especially for wines. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa, during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday, September 29. Also, the head of the Executive requested the Minister of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu to prepare all the necessary steps in this regard.
"We requested a reduction in taxes for importing Moldovan products into Japan, especially wines. In the first half of the year, trade increased by 20 percent. In Japan, more and more is known about the Republic of Moldova, in particular I heard an appreciation of the solidarity prooved by the Moldovan people in the refugee crisis. Please, Mr. Gaibu, let's take the necessary steps for the generalized system of trade preferences, to reduce the import tax for Moldovan wines in Japan. We are starting with this topic, maybe we will succeed with other trade positions", said Natalia Gavriliţa.
We remind you that Natalia Gavriliţa made a working visit to Japan, between September 26-28, where she attended the state funeral of the former prime minister, Shinzo Abe. The Head of the Executive met with several Japanese officials, including her counterpart, Fumio Kishida.
During the meeting, Natalia Gavriliţa established that a mission of experts from the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) is to develop, together with the Moldovan authorities, a project aimed at increasing the export figure of our products to Japan and diversifying the portfolio of exported products.
