Moldovans will be able to place alternative electricity systems on agricultural land
Moldova will be allowed to place alternative electricity systems on agricultural land. The deputies approved in the first reading amendments to the land code, in order to generate alternative sources of electricity.
According to the Parliament, the project provides for the placement of solar photovoltaic systems on agricultural land without the need to change the destination. At the same time, it will be possible to change the destination of high quality agricultural land for the construction of wind installations.
It is also proposed that the photovoltaic installations be fixed to the ground by a metal structure and not by the use of reinforced concrete or other type of construction materials which would have a negative impact on soil fertility. Thus, measures aim to preserve and to increase soil fertility.
The document also contains the conditions for the design, installation and location of solar photovoltaic systems and wind power plants.
The benefits of the changes consist in covering the electricity deficit generated by local sources, creating jobs locally, increasing local budget revenues from both local taxes paid and the state budget from VAT levied, reads the document. Likewise, they are necessary for the protection of high quality land and to increase energy security, reduce energy imports to the Republic of Moldova.
