First installment from the EU will be granted to Moldova this spring, statement

The first installment of the EU-funded 100-million-euro macro-financial assistance will be granted to Moldova as early as this spring, but the decision to stop this funding is rather political, said the Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a TV show, Radio Moldova reports.

„ As for the macro financial assistance, I believe this is rather a political decision on behalf of the EU and  nobody will change my opinion. I remember that when we fulfilled the preliminary conditions and signed the memorandum for obtaining this money, there was opposition as to taking picture and to making the event public so that this was not perceived as eventual support for the current Government on the part of the European states. Moldova should have received the first tranche long before the local elections. The process was delayed and the invalidation of the local mayoral elections in Chisinau was used as a pretext not to offer the Republic of Moldova the money”, said Pavel Filip.

The macro-financial assistance promised  to Moldova provided for the granting of 100 million euros, of which 60 million euros in  loan and 40 million euros as a grant.
