The Republic of Moldova could sign a contract with Azerbaijan for the supply of natural gas
The Republic of Moldova wants to sign a long-term natural gas supply contract with Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu said, quoted by the Azerbaijani agency Trend, Radio Moldova reports.
According to the official, the Government is preparing for emergency situations and discussions are currently being held with Romania and Azerbaijan for the signing of contracts for long-term gas supply.
Andrei Spînu said that the Republic of Moldova is connected to the European Network of Transmission System Operators, a fact that offers it several options, including purchases from Romania or other European Union states, but at a very high price.
The Republic of Moldova has reserves of 35 million cubic meters of natural gas, a volume that in winter lasts for a maximum of 10 days. However, the deputy prime minister claims that this time is enough for the government to find gas from other sources.
