The Republic of Moldova has banned the export of wheat and sugar since March 1
The Republic of Moldova bans the export of wheat and sugar during the state of emergency, starting March 1. A statement to this effect was made by Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa after the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Natalia Gavriliţa, specified, during a press conference, that the export restrictions were imposed to ensure food security in the conditions in which the stocks are limited.
"The analysis shows that we are close to the limit stocks needed to ensure food security. It is especially important now, when we have this migratory flow," declared the Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa.
The Ministry of Economy, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, will intensify efforts to monitor the fluctuation of prices and stocks of cereals on the internal and external market and will report weekly to the Commission for Exceptional Situations.
In the context of the crisis in Ukraine, the authorities in Chisinau established a state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova for a period of 60 days on Thursday, February 24th.
