The EU offers the Republic of Moldova 100 million euros in support in the context of the pandemic
The European Parliament has adopted a proposal for a three-billion-euro macro-financial assistance package for ten enlargement and neighborhood partners, including Moldova. Our country will receive 100 million euros in support in the context of the pandemic. The announcement was made by Romanian MEP Marian-Jean Marinescu, Radio Moldova reports.
"We voted in favor of the Commission and the European Council's proposal to provide financial assistance to partner countries in enlargement and neighborhood policy. From this financial package of three billion euros intended to combat the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Republic of Moldova receives 100 million euros. It is an important signal that the EU is sending to its partner states that it is with them during this extremely difficult period. For Romania and for me, the Republic of Moldova remains a priority, and the support we can offer can help it both in the fight against the effects of Coronavirus, and in the effort to counteract the manipulation of public opinion coming from Russia. In this information war, every gesture counts through which we can prove with facts that the European Union is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova," wrote Marian-Jean Marinescu on his Facebook page.
According to the MEP, the European Parliament has urgently adopted this proposal, so the first tranche of funds will be transferred this month.
