Veaceslav Ioniţă: The value of state enterprises in the Republic of Moldova decreased 2.5 times in the last 12 years

State-owned enterprises have a value of 35 billion lei, i.e. 2.5 times less than 12 years ago, said Veaceslav Ioniţă, expert in economic policies from the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” during an analysis show, reports Radio Moldova.

Economist Veaceslav Ioniţă also mentioned that the Joint Stock Companies owned by the state,  in 2021 brought a profit of 234 million lei, the State Enterprises recorded a profit of 38 million lei, and the Municipal Enterprises in our country had financial losses of 33 million lei, meaning they did not bring any profit to the state.

"The best situation is with joint-stock companies, because there, apart from the state, there is also private capital. In total, from the joint-stock companies, the state obtained a profit of 234 million lei in 2021. So, everything that the biggest joint-stock companies brought was eaten by the worst joint-stock companies. At state enterprises, the profit was 38 million lei. The rest was the money eaten by those who are at a loss", declared Ioniţă.

The profitability of state enterprises is very low, and many of them cause losses, says economic analyst Veaceslav Ioniţă. According to him, in 2021 the Joint Stock Companies owned by the state, but where there are also private investors, brought in a profit of over 200 million lei, but the situation is worse in the case of state and municipal enterprises.

IDIS "Viitorul" expert Veaceslav Ioniţă also added that this year the profit of the public goods managed by the state could be more than 500 million lei, but this is not enough because it does not exceed the optimal profit required of 10 to hundred.

State-owned enterprises have a value of 35 billion lei, which is 2.5 times less than 12 years ago, said Veaceslav Ioniţă.
