UPDATE 17.02 Former President Igor Dodon has been detained for 72 hours. An intermediary was also detained, with risks of evidence loss being found.This was announced by the interim chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Elena Cazacov, in a briefing.

The officers of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), together with the anti-corruption prosecutors, raided the home and other locations of the former president and ex-leader of the Socialist Party Igor Dodon.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the raids are carried out based on reasonable suspicions of committing the crime of passive corruption, the acceptance of the financing of the political party by a criminal organization, treason and illicit enrichment.

"We confirm the searches carried out by the prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office jointly with CNA and SIS at the home of the former President of the Republic of Moldova, Dodon Igor. The searches are also carried out at other locations, real estate owned by intermediaries", said the prosecutor Mariana Cherpec, for TRM.MD.
