Russian ambassador to Chisinau summoned to MFAEI after statements regarding Transnistria

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetov, has been summoned again to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI), following statements by a Russian general on the creation of a corridor to Transnistria, "to defend Russian speakers."

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration took note of the statements of the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In this context, the MFAEI summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetov, to whom he expressed deep concern over the statements made by the Russian official.

The MFAEI describes these statements as unfounded and in contradiction with the position of the Russian Federation in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, within the internationally recognized borders.

At the same time, during the meeting, it was reiterated that the Republic of Moldova, according to its Constitution, is a neutral state and expressed the request that this principle be respected by all international actors, including the Russian Federation ", reads a statement of MFAEI.

The Russian military has announced that it intends to occupy the southern regions of Ukraine and move to the Transnistrian region. The statement was made by the deputy commander of the troops in the Central Military District, Rustam Minnekaev, quoted by TASS.

"In the second phase of the 'special operation' in Ukraine, the Russian military must gain full control of the Donbas region and the southern regions of Ukraine. This will allow the creation of a land corridor to Crimea, but also an exit to Transnistria, where "the rights of the Russian-speaking population are also affected," Minnekaev said.
