Russian army plans to leave for Transnistria. Chisinau's reaction
The Russian military announced that it intends to occupy the southern regions of Ukraine and move to the Transnistrian region. The statement was made by the deputy commander of the troops in the Central Military District, Rustam Minnekaev, quoted by TASS. Contacted by TRM.MD, Sorina Ştefârţă, spokesperson of the Presidency and Anastasia Taburceanu, spokesperson of the Executive said that they do not have official information and do not comment on these statements.
In the second phase of the "special operation" in Ukraine, the Russian military must gain full control of the Donbas region and the southern regions of Ukraine. This will allow the creation of a land corridor to Crimea, but also an exit to Transnistria, where "the rights of the Russian-speaking population are also affected." The statement was made by Major General Rustam Minnekaev, the deputy commander of the troops in the Central Military District.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a "special military operation for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine." The decision drew sanctions on Russia from the EU, the United States and other countries.
