The government will allocate 100 million lei for the organization of early parliamentary elections
The Government of the Republic of Moldova will allocate a little over one hundred million lei from the reserve fund for the conduct of the early parliamentary elections on July 11. The money will be allocated in several installments, in accordance with the needs of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). A statement to this effect was made by the interim prime minister, Aureliu Ciocoi, during the show "Moldova Live" on the public television station.
The prime minister reminded that there are 98 million lei in the reserve fund, but the Ministry of Finance also identified financial resources, a little over 120 million lei. Thus, the Executive has no way to satisfy the expenditure estimate issued by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), in the amount of 125 million lei.
"They will go on real pragmatic expenses, the subsequent installments will be made in accordance with the needs of the CEC (...). We have a framework that we cannot overcome but we must ensure the good conduct of this election," mentioned Aureliu Ciocoi.
A large part of this money, according to the interim prime minister, is allocated for the salaries of CEC members and employees of polling stations.
TRM.MD recalls that a few days ago, the Prime Minister declared that the Government cannot allocate more than 80 million lei for the early parliamentary elections, and this is because "a responsible Government cannot leave the reserve fund with zero lei".
Early parliamentary elections are set for July 11.
