Eight people, detained as a result of the searches carried out at the office of the "Sor" Party

Eight people, suspected of participating as accomplices in committing the crime of knowingly accepting the financing of the "Sor" Political Party from an organized criminal group, were detained as a result of searches carried out in the evening of November 2 at the party's office. The information was made public by the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office on November 3.

According to the cited source, a decision on the application of a preventive measure will be made within 72 hours.

It should be mentioned that the anti-corruption prosecutors performed searched on November 2, at the office of the "Sor" Political Party. In the evening of yesterday, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announced that, during the raids, money in the total amount of 321,700 lei was detected and collected. The funds would have been intended for the unofficial payment of salaries, paid in envelopes to party employees from an organized criminal group.

We remind you that more than 55 searches in different locations in the country were also carried out on October 20, in the file regarding the illegal financing of the "Sor" Political Party. Then 20 black bags with money were found. On October 31, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office said that the final amount from the bags is 4,219,550 lei and 4,000 US dollars. The PA declared then that a decision is to be adopted in line with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, in order to ensure the preservation of the money raised by the authorized institution.
