President of Romania Klaus Iohannis welcomes the latest developments in the political situation in Moldova, which, according to him, can put an end to the crisis and can lead to a peaceful transition of power. A press release issued by the Romanian Presidency shows that these developments took place in the context of the visit of the presidential advisor for foreign policy, Bogdan Aurescu, on Friday in Chisinau. The agenda included a coordination meeting with the US Ambassador to Chisinau Dereck Hogan, as well as meetings with the leaders of the Block ACUM, of the Democratic Party, the Party of Socialists and the president Igor Dodon, Moldova 1 TV reports.

The  press release states that Bogdan Aurescu has firmly reiterated Romania's call for calm, restraint and the need for all political forces to act with responsibility to ensure the stability of the Republic of Moldova, and all political actors expressed their commitment to prevent the worsening of the public order in Moldova.

Also, the representative of Romania called for political dialogue to settle the political crisis in a peaceful manner as quickly as possible, in line with the values ​​and principles of the European Union, including the rule of law.

During the discussion, President Igor Dodon expressed his wish to support and continue the bilateral Strategic Partnership with Romania, which is the main trade partner of the Republic of Moldova, and of the European path of the Republic of Moldova, including the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union. He also stressed the need to finalize the energy interconnection projects with Romania as quickly as possible, reads the press release.
