The United States and the Republic of Moldova initiated the procedure for the sale of the Republican Stadium
The United States and Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday (April 28th) to begin the sale of the Republican Stadium, where a new US embassy and public park will be built.
According to Ambassador Kent Logsdon, the new park and the new building will reflect the strength of the partnership between our country and the USA and will allow the work between the two states to continue.
"The signing of the Memorandum is a significant step in a process resulting in the creation of a brand new public park, the restoration of the stadium's iconic gates and the construction of a world-class diplomatic campus that demonstrates the strength and resilience of the partnership between our two countries," said the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.
At the same time, the American diplomat thanked the Government and the people of the Republic of Moldova for respecting a commitment made for the first time in 2015 to allow them to purchase land for the construction of the new US embassy.
TRM.MD recalls that the parliament approved in the first reading the bill, which provides for the sale of the land of the former Republican Stadium to the US Government, for the construction of a new embassy, with the vote of 54 MPs.
