The Ialpug River, one of the largest in the country, has turned into a sewer mouth
Ecological disaster in the town of Comrat. The Ialpug River, considered one of the largest in the country, has turned into a sewer mouth. It happens after the factory in the locality was disconnected from the city's sewage system, and the waste and waste water flows into the river. While the economic agent declares that he respects the technology, the local authorities claim that the enterprise must have its own waste processing system, reports Moldova 1.
For several weeks, people have been complaining about the unbearable smell. They say that for this reason they avoid the area near the plant in Comrat City.
"I walk by here when I go to work and every time I smell this smell which is unbearable. I don't know when they will solve this problem";
"This smell persists for a longer time, but it is stronger in the morning and evening. The authorities must take emergency measures".
The director of the enterprise says that they will insist on signing a contract for reconnection to the centralised sewage system, otherwise they will attack the authorities in court.
"We have all the documents that show that we approached Sucanal to make a contract, we have two cleaning systems and that everything is in order. I checked with an expert and found that all the sewage systems in Comrat are full. The problem does not come from us", mentioned Serghei Cimpoieş.
On the other hand, the local authorities say that the enterprise must have its own waste processing system.
"On September 6, the enterprise was disconnected from the sewer network because it had illegal industrial waste leaks into the public sewer system. Because of the debris that comes from them, the sewerage is clogged, and now the water goes into the Ialpug river", said Victor Panainov, director of Sucanal.
"3-4 months ago we found that our new collectors that we built, although they had not yet been launched, were full of sludge. According to the law, every enterprise must have its own sewage and cleaning systems", said Serghei Anastasov, the mayor of Comrat.
Previously, the factory's administration was fined twice for the illegalities committed.
