Administration of a new booster dose of anti-COVID-19 will start next week

The second booster dose could be applied starting next week, Health Minister Ala Nemerenco announced, Radio Moldova reports.

According to her, the Pfizer vaccine will be used and, most likely, in the initial stage, priority will be given to elderly citizens and those with chronic diseases. Also, Ala Nemerenco mentioned that the authorities are ready to face the new wave of infections.

"The National Council for Immunizations gave the green light for the application of booster dose II. At the moment, they specify the technical part to be very clear what type of vaccine is used, what is the dose, what are the priority categories. WHO recommendations are to give priority to people with comorbidities, people aged over 60 . We have prepared beds absolutely in all hospitals. We open them gradually according to a certain scheme of the Ministry of Health. For children, we have already gone to the "Valentin Ignatenco" Children's Clinical Hospital. And we have no problem now with the provision of protective equipment and medicines ", said Ala Nemerenco.

We remind that in recent weeks there has been a significant increase in the number of cases of COVID-19. During the last week, about 3,000 new cases of infections were detected, and the municipality of Chisinau is for the second consecutive week under orange code in terms of the number of cases reported to the population.
