Higher fines applied for excessive environmental pollution
Fines and sanctions for fraudulent use of natural resources or for excessive environmental pollution will be tightened. The provision is contained in the Anticorruption Plan on Environmental Protection for 2018-2020, approved by the Government, reads a press release from the Executive.
Thus, the legislation will be revised in the next two years, and the Moldsilva and Apele Moldovei agencies will be reorganized.
According to the authorities, the biggest problems leading to environmental corruption are imperfect legislation, fraudulent, illicit and unauthorized use of natural and mineral resources, excessive and uncontrolled environmental pollution and low transparency in decision-making.
