API: Media that distributes fake news should be restricted

The Republic of Moldova must protect its citizens, given that television broadcasts from Russia broadcast fakes about Russian aggression against Ukraine. The statement belongs to the director of the Independent Press Association (API), Petru Macovei and was made for Radio Moldova.

According to the director of API, in the state of emergency, the Audiovisual Council must suspend the retransmission of TV stations, and the Information and Security Service should block web portals that distribute false news about the Russian-Ukrainian war, NATO and the EU.

The Audiovisual Council is to be convened in an extraordinary meeting during which the subject of the cessation of the transmission of the programs from the Russian Federation to the television channels on the territory of the Republic of Moldova will be discussed.
