Public libraries become information platforms in the electoral field
600 public libraries in the country will represent a neutral platform for electoral education and information for citizens with voting rights in the Republic of Moldova. Throughout the electoral period, libraries will provide space for discussion and training, free access to online information sources and platforms, as well as specialized advice in the field, IPN reports.
The project "Promoting Electoral Information" is implemented by the independent organization IREX, with the financial support of the US Embassy in Moldova, in collaboration with the Association of Independent Press and Electronic Press Association of Moldova.
A press release issued by IREX reads that the action takes place in the context of Parliament's approval of the new electoral system and starting from the role of public libraries as promoters of civic education. As promoters of civic education in the electoral field, librarians from the public library network will have a key role, as they have previously benefited from specialized training provided by the Continuing Education Center in the Electoral Field.
