NBS: The number of teachers working in schools in the country is decreasing
The number of teachers working in schools in the country is decreasing, according to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics. In the 2021-2022 academic year, 416 fewer teachers worked in the education system compared to the 2020-2021 academic year.
According to the NBS, last year, 47,088 teaching staff were active, of whom 86 percent were women, and 14 percent were men.
The average monthly income of teaching staff is 7,440 lei per month, or 18 percent less than the average salary in the economy.
TRM.MD recalls that today is International Teacher's Day. The motto of this day, established by UNESCO, is "The transformation of education begins with teachers".
