Dozens of children from Moldova have become victims of human trafficking as of the beginning of the year
In the first nine months of the year, 120 Moldovans became victims of human trafficking, of which 27 were women, 53 were men, and 40 were children. The statistical data were presented by the Police of the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the European Day Against Trafficking in Persons is marked today, October 18.
"In the first 9 months of the current year, 49 cases of human trafficking were registered nationally, with 120 victims identified, 27 of whom were women, 53 men and 40 children," the Police announced.
The law enforcement officers announce, in the context, that they will hold the "#AntiTraffic Week". The event will be marked by the organization and implementation of activities to raise awareness and inform citizens, especially pupils and students, about human trafficking, the risks and consequences, but also the priority commitment of the Police regarding combating and preventing this phenomenon.
"The temptation of a well-paid job abroad is great! Don't be vulnerable! Don't be fooled by offers that are too good to be true! Check in detail any offer you receive! Inform yourself so you don't become a victim! Notify the authorities whenever you see a person being exploited or in danger! Together we can discover and help the victims of these crimes", urges the Police.
