Igor Grosu: The Republic of Moldova could face a new influx of refugees

Due to the latest Russian attacks on the civil infrastructure in Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova could face a new influx of refugees. Also, the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, emphasized in a meeting with Ib Petersen, the deputy executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), that our country was directly affected, remaining overnight without almost a third of the energy needed.

"It is a challenge for us to strengthen energy security and the accessibility of energy resources. We will get through this winter, however hard it may be, because we have many friends. An additional proof is yesterday's announcement by the Bucharest Government that Romania will provide us with the necessary 30% that we can no longer receive from Ukraine", said Igor Grosu.

According to the latest statistics, about 80 thousand Ukrainian citizens are settled on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the majority of them being women and minors. According to a press release from the Parliament, since the start of the war in Ukraine, in February, the authorities in Chisinau have made sustained efforts and mobilized all resources to shelter and offer protection to people who are taking refuge.
