Moldova could switch to polycarbonate passports
Moldova is preparing to switch to polycarbonate passports, which will be 200 lei cheaper. According to the director of the Public Services Agency (ASP), Mircea Eşanu, the polycarbonate passports will have a built-in chip, as in Romania, Radio Moldova reports.
"This model of issuing foreign passports is used in 70% of the countries that are members of the European Union. The risk of falsifying it is almost zero ", said the director of the Public Services Agency (ASP), Mircea Eşanu.
Currently, ASP pays a royalty fee to a company little known for producing passports. The respective fee is about 14 euros for each passport.
