The number of cases of diarrheal diseases is increasing: 450 cases registered last week

During the summer, the number of cases of diarrheal diseases is increasing. Specialists from the National Agency for Public Health announce that in the last week alone, 450 cases of acute diarrheal diseases were registered, with 43 more cases than last week. The most affected are children, who constitute over 65 percent of the total number of cases. Doctors come up with a series of recommendations to prevent infection, reports Moldova 1.

"Every summer season, we have an increase in acute diarrheal diseases in children. Due to the fact that they go to communities and are exposed to a greater risk of illness, the preventive hygiene measures are not strictly followed and because products are now consumed during the summer that have a risk of being spoiled", the paediatrician doctor Olesea Guler said.

However, parents say that they are careful about the products they offer their children, especially during the summer.

"Healthy lifestyle, fruits, hydration, hand hygiene, fruits should be well washed".

"We try to prevent, to wash our hands more often after each walk, we explain the hygiene rules to the children".

"We give him food from home, cooked in home conditions and that's it."

Rigorous hygiene is the most effective way to prevent diarrheal diseases, doctors say.

"To wash their hands as often as possible with soap and water, to wash food properly, to heat it well, to avoid contact with people who assume that they have an acute diarrheal disease such as fever".

The National Agency for Public Health recommends that in case of the appearance of clinical signs such as fever, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, to consult the family doctor urgently or to call 112.
