Veronica Dragalin announces that she will not resign from the position of head of the PA
The head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (PA), Veronica Dragalin, declares that she will not resign from this position, as some representatives of the opposition demand. In a post on Facebook, she states that coming to the position of chief prosecutor of the PA, she is disturbing those who used to have "exit" at the prosecutor's office.
"I am in office as a result of a rigorous and transparent competition in which I participated because I really want to help my country. No one promised or guaranteed me that I would win this contest. I had a public interview and a file presented in front of a commission with representatives from civil society and the Moldovan prosecutor's office, as well as experts from outside the country, Romania, the USA and Latvia", recalled Dragalin.
She also states that there have been several attempts to intimidate her, by distributing several fakes in the public space, starting with the period when she was applying for this position. Veronica Dragalin also denied the fact that she obtained this position, because her mother allegedly made a donation to the current ruling party.
"My parents made two donations to PAS via bank transfer during the 2020 and 2021 election campaigns, 1000 dollars each. This is not illegal financing of a party, these are donations within the limits allowed by law. We are talking about 2000 dollars. Do you think this is enough money to buy the position of Chief Prosecutor of the PA? This post has no price and cannot be bought", says the head of the PA.
In context, she stated that she is in this position to do her job as a prosecutor "I am in this position to do my job as a prosecutor. The corrupt have already understood this very well and are disturbed, even scared. That's why they started asking for my resignation. It will not happen," said Veronica Dragalin.
We remind you that the socialists demanded the creation of a special parliamentary commission of inquiry, which would examine the procedure for organizing and conducting contests to fill vacancies in the field of justice, as well as the results of these contests. BCS Deputy Vasile Bolea mentioned that the Commission must investigate the correspondence of the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, which appeared in the public space, from which it would appear that the results of the contests, including for the position of head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, were rigged. The parliamentary majority rejected the initiative.
