The President of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban does not rule out that natural gas tariffs could decrease

The President of Moldovagaz does not rule out that this winter there could be premises for a downward adjustment of natural gas tariffs. Vadim Ceban says that if the downward trend in the purchase price continues in the coming months, the company could cover its accumulated tariff deviations in 2022. At the same time, the head of Moldovagaz says that for the month of December, Gazprom could offer the Republic of Moldova the same volumes of natural gas, i.e. 5.7 million ㎥ per day, IPN reports.

The President of Moldovagaz says that there are no premises for Gazprom to stop natural gas deliveries in December, as the company has paid its invoice and advance, as stipulated in the contract.

"Nothing has changed for December. The volumes remain the same as in November, i.e. 5.7 million ㎥ per day. On the 21st, we paid the invoice for the month of October and the advance for the month of November as indicated in the invoice. We are already working to close November to be ready for December. But taking into account the purchase price included in the tariff and the forecast for the month of December, we should have no problems paying the invoice. In addition, the compensations from the state for consumers are coming for the month of November, they help us from the point of view of the financial flow", Vadim Ceban told a TV talk show.

The president of Moldovagaz says that although the purchase price of gas is decreasing, the tariffs for consumers will remain high, as the company has accumulated debts that it must cover. Vadim Ceban says that if the tariff will remain high and the purchase price will be decreasing, there are premises that the debts of 2022 will be covered in a few months, and subsequently ANRE could decide on a downward adjustment of the tariffs.

"We want to have appropriate rates. We do not stick to the current tariff, if there will be reasons for tariff adjustments, it is the regulator that decides - ANRE", said the president of the Moldovagaz Board of Directors.

Currently, the natural gas tariff is 29.27 lei per cubic meter, including VAT. For the months of November - March 2023, the Government announced an extensive compensation program worth 5 billion lei. Household consumers will receive compensation in their gas, heating and electricity bills, depending on the degree of energy vulnerability.
