Maia Sandu, message to the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova: "European integration is our task"

The problems faced by the diaspora, ways to provide social protection to Moldovan citizens temporarily working abroad, finding new markets, the energy crisis, attracting investments, improving bilateral relations, and promoting reforms are the main tasks of our country's ambassadors in the states of the world. The statement was made by the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, during the inauguration of the meeting of the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova in Chisinau.

"The process of European integration takes time and there are many things we have to do, but there can always be an opportunity to speed up this process. European integration is not only the job of the ambassador from Brussels, European integration is the task of all of us, especially the ambassadors who reside in Europe. Know that you have a double task, the task of improving bilateral relations, but also the task of increasing our chances of European integration. We have to work with all countries", declared Maia Sandu.

The meeting of the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova is organised between August 18 and 19, in Chisinau.

"Today and tomorrow, at this meeting, we will discuss our goals for next year. Together with the ambassadors, we will spend a few hours at the diaspora congress and meet with local producers. Each member of the diplomatic service will continue to do everything for the economic improvement of the Republic of Moldova, by promoting exports", declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu.

At the same time, the diplomats will also discuss the realisation of the Implementation Plan of the 9 recommendations proposed by the European Commission, after our country obtains EU membership status.

The foreign ministers of Romania, Ukraine and Turkey will participate in the event, as special guests, with interventions via video conference. The European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement and the Director of the Economic Diplomacy Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also attend the meeting.
