Moldova marks 5 years of visa liberalization with the EU
Today, April 28, the Republic of Moldova marks five years since it has a liberalized visa regime with the European Union. Moldovan citizens holding biometric passports enjoy cancellation of visas for short trips in EU Member States (EU) as well as in non-member states, but which are part of the Schengen area.
In the past five years, 2 019 499 Moldovan citizens were registered at the exit of the country through border crossing points with Romania and Chisinau International Airport, reports the General Inspectorate of Border Police.
The most popular crossing point was Leuseni - Albita, the border guards registered a number of 759,237 people, followed by Chisinau International Airport, through which 372,289 biometric passport holders left the country.
According to statistics, young people aged between 26 and 35 were among the top 502 609 young people who left the EU.
