Dragalin: The Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office will not investigate the case of information leaks appearing in the public space
The Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office will not investigate the case of information leaks appearing in the public space. The head of the institution says that the prosecutors are busy with corruption cases and will not leave their activities to read tens of thousands of messages whose authenticity is not proven. Veronica Dragalin says that the institution will report on the subject of the alleged discussions of the dignitaries, only if the persons concerned file complaints in this regard, IPN notes.
Veronica Dragalin says that a website where discussions are placed on which she suspects that they belong to public figures is not an argument to start an investigation.
"Leaks of information, even if they are from the accounts of private people or people in important positions, represent an illegal thing. Such a document as the web page that publishes information does not have the quality of evidence, because we cannot verify whether it is authentic or not. If we don't know who created the web page, how the messages appear there, who can add or delete messages, that's not evidence. It doesn't mean that every word written on this page is a fact that took place," said Veronica Dragalin in the "Black Box" show on TV8.
According to the head of the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the so-called "culiok" episode, on the basis of which a file was initiated against ex-president Igor Dodon, is totally different from the case of information leaks. Veronica Dragalin says that a conversation in the form of text can be easily faked, which is almost impossible in the case of video images.
"For me, the case of images with the bag is not similar to the case of information leaks. Manipulating a web page where we have no evidence that there are real discussions and a video are different things. Even with the best technologies, you can't fake a video, you can't fake the voice, the face. When we see a video, everyone can tell if it is true or not. According to the law, we are obliged to respond to notifications or complaints that we receive. Tens of thousands of messages appeared on the web page. I don't know if the citizens would want the prosecutors to stop working on concrete cases of corruption and start reading tens of thousands of messages about which we don't know if they are true or not. If there are citizens targeted in these messages and they want to notify us, I ask them to do so. The Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office will not take the time to read tens of thousands of messages, so that we can see what is there. We have concrete referrals, concrete complaints'', said the head of the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
Discussions appeared in the public space that were allegedly taken from the Telegram accounts of the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, the Minister of the Interior, Ana Revenco, the Minister of Economy, Dumitru Alaiba, the presidential advisor, Dorin Recean, and the ex-PLDM deputy, Vadim Pistrinciuc. Some of those targeted have partially confirmed the authenticity of the conversations.
