The number of divorces in our country is increasing. Specialists' explanations

The number of divorces in our country increased by 10 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year. While demographers say that divorces and cohabitation could reduce the number of the country's inhabitants, psychologists warn parents that these decisions affect their children, reports Radio Moldova.

The family is going through a period of crisis, young people marry later, and most often couples from villages separate after one of the spouses emigrates, demographer Valeriu Sainsus told Radio Moldova.

On the other hand, the psychologist Svetlana Gorea claims that during the pandemic, people stayed together for a long time, and because of this they have only just begun to know their characters. The specialist in the field of psychology also stated that before getting married, young people must communicate frequently in order to get to know each other's principles and mutual values.

But people think that young people break up because of infidelity, lack of love, responsibility, because of money and migration.

Official data shows that in 2020, approximately 8,600 divorces were registered, while last year ended with 9,900 such requests.
