“Teleradio-Moldova” will become again a member of CIRCOM Regional

The decision was discussed at the meeting of the Executive Committee of CIRCOM Regional, organized by TVR and CIRCOM in the city of Iaşi. The announcement was made during an anniversary event organized by TVR and CIRCOM.

The Executive Committee of CIRCOM Regional - the Association of Regional Television in Europe - and Vlad Turcanu, the general director of “Teleradio-Moldova”, agreed that the public television of the Republic of Moldova will become a member of CIRCOM again after 17 years of absence from the association.

The accession of "Teleradio-Moldova" to CIRCOM Regional was discussed during the CIRCOM Executive Committee meeting organized by TVR and CIRCOM on Friday, February 21, 2025 in Iaşi.

The announcement was made by Vlad Ţurcanu during the "CIRCOM regional workshop. Back in Iasi after 30 years", a ceremony organized by TVR and CIRCOM at the Palace of Culture in Iaşi on February 21, 2025. The ceremony concluded the week dedicated to the three-decade anniversary of the first training organized by CIRCOM for Eastern Europe.

"This anniversary of CIRCOM gives us at Teleradio Moldova a special opportunity to renew our ties with this organization of which we were part until 2008. For obscure reasons, we happened to move away from CIRCOM and it was certainly not to the benefit of our institution," said Vlad Ţurcanu.

"Today, at the Executive Committee, when the offer to resume our membership in CIRCOM was made, I had the honor to meet my fellow journalists, people who share the same journalistic values. The warmth I felt in the room where the event took place meant a lot to me, as if we had not even been away for 17 years", added Vlad Ţurcanu.

"I am very happy that Romania is hosting this CIRCOM meeting because it is really a celebration of the importance of television. To do quality journalism you need a lot of schooling, a lot of training, many hours where someone teaches you the ABC of the job, and then many hours of practicing the job, making mistakes, taking lessons from more experienced people. In the end, this is how a television professional, a press professional, a journalist is born," said Dan Cristian Turturică, President and CEO of TVR . “I am glad that CIRCOM continues to organize these meetings in which it gives journalists the tools to become even better journalists,” Turturică added.

Among the guests of the event "CIRCOM regional workshop. Back in Iasi after 30 years", presented by Irina Păcurariu, TV producer, and David Lowen, former CIRCOM Regional President, were members of the CIRCOM board as well as Iasi officials.

From February 18-21, 2025, TVR and CIRCOM Regional organized a series of events in Iaşi to mark the 30th anniversary of the first training for Eastern Europe coordinated by TVR and CIRCOM Regional - a refresher course in digital journalism, a CIRCOM Executive Board meeting and an anniversary event.

Public Institution “Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM) is the public broadcasting service of Moldova, which owns several TV and radio stations, including Moldova 1, Moldova 2, Radio Moldova.
