The Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts marks the 80th anniversary of its founding
Moldova's first higher education institution, the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, marks 80 years since its founding. It is the successor of the State Conservatory of Chisinau, founded in 1940 and has its roots in music education institutions operating in Chisinau since 1919, when at the initiative of George Enescu was founded the "Union" Conservatory. Currently, the institution trains specialists for all fields of art at all three levels: higher education and bachelor, master and doctorate, reports Moldova 1.
The events began with an exhibition of fine arts, music, demonstration of clothing design creations, all made by current and former students of the Academy.
Since his student years, the life of the great performer Mihai Munteanu is inseparable from the Academy. For the past three decades, he has been a professor of academic singing.
"My former students are artists of the people. All the traditions that were there have been preserved and we defend this matter with our teeth," declared Mihail Munteanu, artist of the people.
"Music, theater, choreography, plastic arts, applied decorative arts, design, culturology: all are important for society, for the country," said Victoria Melnic, rector of the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts.
During this period, more than 15,000 graduates flew from the Academy, and now 880 students are studying.
"Indeed, it is the institution that makes it possible for the name of Moldova to be much better known, more heard both in the Republic of Moldova and abroad, through those disciples who promote culture," said Andrei Chistol, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
The 80th anniversary of the founding of the Academy takes place with the motto "Tradition, creativity, excellence" and will continue until the end of the year with online international symposia, galas of choreographic theater performances, exhibitions and concerts, as well as a journey through history.
