The Moldovan authorities have requested from the IMF emergency financial assistance
The authorities of the Republic of Moldova have asked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for emergency financial assistance, "to improve the economic impact of COVID -19". The IMF's permanent representative in Moldova, Volodymyr Tulin, told Radio Moldova.
Thus, between March 30 and April 1, an IMF mission, under the leadership of Ruben Atoyan, will hold discussions at the IMF headquarters in Washington with the Moldovan authorities regarding the economic policies needed to mitigate the impact of the pandemic, financially supported by the Mechanism of Rapid Lending (RCF) and Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI).
The financing through the RCF / RFI must be approved by the IMF Executive Board of Directors and does not imply any further conditionalities or evaluation missions.
