Annual inflation in the Republic of Moldova exceeded 29 percent

Annual inflation in May was 29.05%. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), food prices have risen the most - by 32.50%. At the same time, prices for non-food goods increased by 21.45%, and for services provided to the population - by 35.27%.

At the same time, according to (NBS), in May, compared to the previous month, most rises in prices  were registered for the following food products: vegetable oil - 9.6%, oranges - 10.6%, exotic fruits - 8, 4%, meat, preparations, canned meat and bread made from wheat flour - by 2.8% each, sugar - by 2.3%, milk and dairy products - by about one percent.

At the same time, in May there were price reductions for cucumbers - by 18.2%, tomatoes - by 10.5% and fresh mushrooms - by 3.8%, berries - by 5.4%, eggs - by 0.2%.

In the case of non-food goods, in May compared to April 2022, there were more significant price increases for gasoline - by 7.9%, diesel - by 2.2%, for construction materials for home maintenance and repair - by 2.8 %.
