Road rehabilitation works will be completed by this year-end

All road rehabilitation works will be completed by the end of December this year. The data were presented by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) Anatol Usatii, who pointed that currently all procurement procedures are being launched for the start of rehabilitation works.

Of the total number of public and national roads, 480 km are in the rehabilitation stage.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the beneficiaries of the "Roads 2020" program are 1200 localities, which were selected based on a formula developed by experts in the field.

"The beneficiaries of the program are about 1200 localities. We cover the whole country, all the town halls, but taking into account that the composition of a town hall includes several localities, the local public administration will identify exactly the locality, to be divided equally or to identify a single settlement in the componence of the town hall”, said Anatol Usatâi.

MEI representative said that about five thousand people will be trained for the expected workload.

"We mean people directly involved in the implementation of these works, but we know by standards that almost three times more people are involved in related industries: in the passenger transport industry, in the industry of extraction of work materials and their transportation and so on", added Usatâi.

Over one billion lei will be invested in the rehabilitation works, and by the end of this year, about 906.8 km of road will be built, rebuilt or repaired, of which almost 300 km will be asphalt roads of different types, and the remaining 608 km will be made of stone.
