Vladimir Bolea: Despite the unusual agricultural year, the food security of the Republic of Moldova will not be affected
The food security of the Republic of Moldova will not be affected, despite the unusual agricultural year, the Minister of Agriculture, Vladimir Bolea, said in the program "Public Space" from Radio Moldova, stating that there are fields, especially in the south of the country with losses of 100 percent of the fruit, reports Radio Moldova.
"This year is a little more atypical, for example the wheat crops, even if they did not have the expected fruit, they did bear fruit anyway. In the south of the Republic of Moldova, Ştefan Vodă that was the most affected, some fields had losses of 100%, they were practically plowed and processed again. Instead, there will be sunflower harvest, in some districts less, in some more, for example, wheat from 2.5 tons to 5.2 tons in the north", said the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea.
Meanwhile, Alexandru Slusari, executive director, AO "Forţa Fermierilor" believes that the establishment of the state of emergency would give farmers affected by the drought and the embargo the right to postpone payments due to private creditors.
"The state of emergency would allow the Government or the Extraordinary Situations Commission to adopt decisions by derogating from the general rules. Moreover, we emphasized the measures that do not require the allocation of money from the state budget, as we understand the economic situation and the political and geopolitical situation. The decision of the Extraordinary Situations Commission is needed, which would grant farmers affected by the drought and embargo the right to hand over due payments to private creditors, except for quotas and rent payments. At least for three months the payments to banks, input suppliers, various projects should be postponed without calculating the penalties", said Alexandru Slusari, in the same show.
