Conclusions of Members of the European Parliament on Parliamentary Election Day

Parliamentary election day was calm and transparent. The conclusion was made by members of the European Parliament, who monitored the July 11 election. However, MEPs have seen some deviations. These are two cases of organized transportation of voters to the polls and one case of corruption of voters. At the same time, MEPs mention that the choice of Moldovans was a clear one and claim that they will support the Republic of Moldova in its development and in the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union. At the same time, the MEPs came with some proposals to improve the electoral legislation, reports Moldova 1.

"Firstly, equal access of all candidates and all political parties to the media must be ensured in the future, secondly, transparency regarding the financing of election campaigns and political parties, and we expect the future Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to take decision in this regard, and thirdly, the vote in the diaspora - it is clear that there is a need for improved legislation so that Moldovan citizens can vote freely, without queues, regardless of location," said Siegfried Muresan, MP European Parliament.

On behalf of the European Parliament, there were six observers who monitored the elections together with the OSCE.
