The famous Death Valley in California - affected by heavy floods

California's famous Death Valley, one of the driest and hottest places in the world, is affected by heavy flooding following heavy rains, a weather phenomenon very rare in the region, which has destroyed access roads. The streams of water tore sections of pavement from the roads and flooded offices and hotels in the area, reports Mesager.

Almost 1,000 people remained isolated, announced the authorities that manage this national park located in eastern California. In some areas, 37 liters of water fell per square meter, while the total average annual amounts in the region are below 50 liters per square meter. Death Valley National Park is known as one of the hottest places in the world and the driest area in North America.

Over one and a half million tourists visit the area every year.
