Presidential Adviser Mikhail Podolyak: Between 100 and 200 Ukrainian soldiers are killed at the front every day
Fierce fighting continues on the Ukrainian front. Vladimir Putin's army continues to attack important areas of the country, while the Ukrainians try to keep the whole situation under control. The Ukrainian city of Mariupol risks facing a major cholera outbreak, as medical services are on the verge of collapse. On the 107th day of the Russian invasion, Ukrainian fighters resisted severely in Severodonetsk, and Ukrainian officials called on the West to supply weapons. In a decree, Kyiv leader Volodymyr Zelensky banned Vladimir Putin from entering Ukraine and imposed sanctions on 35 other Russian officials, Moldova 1 TV reports.
Ukrainian forces maintain their positions in intense street fighting and under constant attacks in Severodonetsk, Ukrainian officials said. Lugansk Governor Serghei Gaidai says heavy bombing has taken place across the region last night.
"We have a dynamic line, a conditioned border that divides the city into two parts, the Ukrainian and the Russian. Everything can change a lot even in one day", said Lugansk Governor Serghei Gaidai.
Moscow, however, is announcing the resumption of railway work in Lugansk, so the first grain train should leave for Russia. Meanwhile, Russian sources report both military successes and the establishment of a peaceful life in the Donbas. Moreover, schools in the region would move up to Russian educational standards from September 1. Ukraine, on the other hand, is demanding more weapons from the West in order to withstand strong Russian attacks in the Donbas. Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on Thursday with French President Emmanuel Macron about military aid to Ukraine, including heavy weapons. The Kyiv leader has called on European politicians to support Ukraine's bid to join the European Union.
"Most Europeans support Ukraine's integration. And if Europeans support it, politicians in some countries who are still skeptical should not oppose our European people, society and aspirations, "Zelenski said.
In Nikolaev the war front is near the city. Thousands of people do not have access to hygiene products, medicines, food or even water.
Presidential Adviser Mikhail Podolyak told the BBC that between 100 and 200 Ukrainian soldiers are killed at the front every day. The Ukrainian official added that Ukraine is not ready to resume peace talks with the Russian Federation.
