State Duma ratifies so-called "treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual aid" between Russia, Donetsk and Lugansk

The State Duma (lower house of the Russian parliament - no.) on Tuesday ratified the so-called "treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual aid" between the Russian Federation and the self-proclaimed separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, whose independence was recognized on Monday. by Russian President Vladimir Putin, informs EFE, quoted by Agerpres.

The decision was approved unanimously, reports EFE.

Earlier on Tuesday, the "parliaments" of the self-proclaimed separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine also voted unanimously in favor of ratifying the friendship and cooperation treaties with Russia, signed by their "leaders" on Monday with the Russian head of state.

Vladimir Putin on Monday recognized the independence of the pro-Russian separatist regions of Lugansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine and ordered Russian troops to enter those territories, defying the West and fueling fears of a war. The decision was condemned by the international community as a violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
