In Ukraine, a new aircraft "Mriya" is being built from parts of the plane destroyed at an airfield near Kiev

Ukraine is building a new cargo plane An-225 Mriya, the largest transport plane in the world, including parts of the plane destroyed at an airfield near Kiev, announced, on Monday, the general director of the Ukrainian aircraft production company "Antonov", Yevhen Gavrilov, reports Rador.

"The work is carried out in a secret place. The second An-225 will be supplied with both new parts and parts of the damaged aircraft," he said, quoted by the Ukrainian publication Strana. It is stated that the new aircraft is already 30% ready. On February 28, the "UkrOboronProm" concern announced the destruction "at the Gostomel airfield near Kyiv of the world's largest transport aircraft An-225 "Mriya".

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said on May 19 that Ukraine intends to build another one, for which it needs $800 million. At the same time, at the beginning of November, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted a budget for 2022 with a record deficit of $38 billion.

The budget also provides for an inflation rate of 28%, while the minimum wage and the living wage remained unchanged at $186 and $72, respectively. "Mriya" is the largest and heaviest cargo transport aircraft in the world. It made its first flight on December 21, 1988 and has been in operation since 1989. Only one example of the An-225 aircraft was brought to completion, the second one was never built.
