Incident at Zaporozhye nuclear power plant: Dead and injured among Russians occupying power plant
An unspecified number of people were killed and nine Russian soldiers were injured in an unknown incident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine, a region partially occupied by Russian troops, Energodar mayor said, reports CNN.
Mayor Dmitro Orlov, who is not in the Russian-occupied city, said Russian soldiers "were rushed to the city's hospital with multiple injuries. Some have been hospitalized and one is in intensive care. "
"There are also dead people, but we do not know their exact number yet," the Ukrainian mayor said.
Russia has not yet reacted to the report. Russian troops occupied the town of Energodar and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in early March.
The Ukrainian armed forces have hit a major bridge in Russian-controlled territory in the south of the country with US-supplied HIMARS missiles, a Russian-installed regional official was quoted as saying by Reuters on Tuesday.
Military analysts say the newly arrived, more accurate and longer-range artillery missile systems (HIMARS) could change the game for Kyiv in an attempt to launch a counteroffensive in the south.
In a video posted by the Russian news agency TASS, the deputy head of the Russian-installed administration in the southern Kherson region, Kiril Stremusov, said that Ukraine hit the Antonovski Bridge in Kherson with HIMARS, destroying the road but without injuring anyone, reports Agerpres.
