Ukrainian sailors who attempted to cross the Kerch Strait, yet in arrest until April 24

The Moscow court extended, until April 24, the arrest of Ukrainian sailors who attempted to cross the Kerch Strait. Representative of the Ukrainian Human Rights Protection Council, Ludmila Denisova, could not attend the court hearing because the Federal Security Service of Russia decided that the meeting should be held in camera and only with the representatives of the parties, TV Moldova 1 reports.

Ukrainian sailors refused to testify in court. Their defense said they were military prisoners detained in an interstate conflict and demanded the transmission of the case to a military court.

Three Ukrainian navy vessels were seized on November 25 by Russian coastguards when they tried to cross the Black Sea into the Azov Sea.
