Zelensky, message on the Independence Day of Ukraine: "A new nation appeared in the world on February 24. It was not born, but reborn"

Today, Ukraine marks Independence Day, exactly six months after the Russian invasion. Alarms rang out in the early hours of the morning in almost the entire country. In a video clip, dedicated to Independence Day with a strong emotional impact, President Volodymyr Zelensky states that although many doubted the resistance capacity of his people, the citizens of Ukraine proved to the world that they are free at home and that Ukraine was reborn when it was invaded by the Russians, informs Moldova 1.

"Free people of independent Ukraine! Six months ago, Russia declared war on us. On February 24, all of Ukraine heard explosions and gunshots. And on August 24, the words - "Congratulations on Independence Day" should not have been heard. On February 24, we were told that we had no chance. On August 24, we say: Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!", said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The leader from Kyiv emphasized that the Ukrainians have strengthened their forces, after realizing that no one but them will fight for the independence of their country.

"A new nation appeared in the world on February 24, at 4 o'clock in the morning. It was not born, but reborn. A nation that didn't cry, didn't scream and didn't get scared. One that didn't run away. It didn't give up and  didn't forget!".

According to the president, the Ukrainian people and their courage inspired the whole world and gave humanity a new hope that justice will be done. Today, both world leaders and ordinary citizens say that they will be with Ukraine until the end, until victory.

"This flag will fly everywhere it has a right to be in Donbas and Crimea. The enemy thought we would welcome him with cheers and champagne. But he received funeral wreaths and Molotov cocktails instead. He was expecting applause, but heard explosions!" added Volodymyr Zelensky.

The EU and NATO have conveyed their firm support for Kyiv on Ukraine's Independence Day. The United States of America has announced a new military aid of 3 billion dollars, the largest ever given to this country. The Berlaymont building, the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels, was illuminated last night in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, yellow and blue. Congratulatory messages came from several world leaders as well as ordinary people from all over the world. Ukraine declared its Independence from the Soviet Union on August 24, 1991.
