Deputies decided to compensate the tariffs for the electricity consumed during the state of emergency
The state might compensate the tariffs for electricity consumed during the state of emergency. The draft, which provoked reactions among deputies, was voted in today's plenary session in the first reading with the vote of the majority of deputies present at the meeting.
"The project aims to compensate the tariffs for electricity used during the pandemic period, in April and May, in a total amount of 428 lei per consumer. These calculations result from the actual electricity consumption for February and March 2021, which are on average approximately equal ", said the PSRM deputy, Petru Burduja, author of the draft law.
The bill provoked reactions among the deputies. Opposition MPs accused the Socialists of populism and proposed that aid for the state of emergency be granted separately, so that only those categories of citizens who need support during this period can benefit from it.
"I'm not asking you where you're going to get half a billion and if it's good that you intend to increase the domestic debt, but I want to know, if you go with this populist project, why do you admit waste of money? Why do you propose this compensation for a group of people who live well-thanked and do not need this money? Why didn't you propose a mechanism that would really allocate this money to those who need it? ”, asked the deputy of the DA Platform, Alexandru Slusari, vice-president of the Parliament.
"This idea will continue to fuel inequity, illegality. These intentions cause nonsense and public money was mismanaged. You propose to allocate half a billion from the state budget for this extremely populist initiative ", said the PAS deputy, Dumitru Alaiba.
"It is a good initiative at first sight, but I tell you as a former prime minister that there are mechanisms, such as social allowances or social assistance. People in need of social assistance are identified. We must not help people who do not need this help ", said the PDM deputy, Pavel Filip.
In his turn, the leader of the parliamentary faction of PSRM, Corneliu Furculiţă declared that the bill proposed by the socialists can be implemented. In the end, the deputy made use of art.108. Thus, the deputies approved in the first reading the draft law on the compensation of electricity tariffs used by household consumers.
We mention that the draft voted by the deputies provides for the granting of electricity tariff compensations to consumers of households - individuals - living on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, for two months - April and May, the period of emergency.
The compensated amount will be 428 lei - 214 lei per month. The Ministry of Finance will allocate the necessary installments for the compensation in equal amounts, on the accounts of the electricity suppliers, reads the informative note of the bill.
