Derek Chollet: US pleads for broadening and deepening military cooperation with Moldova
The United States supports Chisinau's Euro-Atlantic aspirations and advocates for broadening and deepening military cooperation with Moldova. The remarks were made by US Secretary of State Adviser Derek Chollet, who was on an official visit to Chisinau. Derek Chollet also said that the USA was determined to increase cooperation in the military field and would support the "Euro-Atlantic aspirations" of Chisinau, Radio Moldova reports.
In the context of the war in Ukraine, the US official said that the US does not currently see any threats to the security of the Republic of Moldova from Russia and that the main concern must be refugees and other possible future crises.
The United States advocates for the preservation of territorial integrity, respects the neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova and supports the solution of the Transnistrian problem through dialogue, within the "5 + 2" format, Derek Chollet added.
The US official also assured that the United States will provide support to the Republic of Moldova, including in the context of the energy and food crisis.
In Chisinau, Derek Chollet had a series of meetings with Moldovan officials, including Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa.
